Josephine Lai has been living in Tucson, Arizona, since the late 80's. After her retirement, she returned to her love of art and design, now working full-time as a ceramic artist.

From sculptures to functional tableware, she draws inspiration from the Sonoran Desert, the Sea of Cortez, and creatures great and small. She integrates sculptural forms, Chinese brush painting, calligraphy, and drawing techniques in her designs. Each piece is unique.

Beyond ceramics, Josephine has worked as illustrator of a series of children's books. She dabbles in wildlife and nature photography, particularly of birds and insects. She is particularly interested in printing techniques and the conservation of prints and drawings.
